- Support: Use stakes, cages, or trellises for support as plants grow tall and produce fruit.
- Watering: Water deeply and consistently, especially during dry periods. Avoid overhead watering to prevent disease.
- Pruning: Prune lower leaves and suckers to promote air circulation and reduce disease risk.
- Harvesting: Harvest tomatoes when fully coloured and firm, from mid-summer to early autumn.
Seed Saving Tips for Future Supply
- Choose Ripe Fruits: Select fully ripe tomatoes from the healthiest plants.
- Extract Seeds: Scoop out seeds along with their gel into a clean container.
- Fermentation: Add a small amount of water to the container and let sit uncovered for 2-3 days, stirring daily to remove the gel coating.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse the seeds thoroughly, then spread them on a clean towel or screen to dry completely.
- Store: Store dried seeds in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Properly stored seeds remain viable for up to 5 years.
